Are There Hot Springs In Chile?
Yes, there are hot springs in Chile. Lots of them!
Located in the Pacific Rim of Fire, Chile is a seismically active area with lots of volcanoes spanning through the entire country from the Atacama Desert in the North to Patagonia in the South.
Like in Costa Rica and California and really any other volcanic area, there are streams of hot water in these geological zones that can form the perfect natural or man-made hot springs.
In total there are 270 thermal pools in Chile spanning the entire country.

The Best Hot Springs In Chile
1 | Termas de Puritama Hot Springs, Atacama Desert
In the middle of the driest desert on earth exists a little oasis – Termas de Puritama hot springs. At an altitude of about 3500 meters above sea level, the Puritama mineral springs are one of the highest thermal baths in the world.
The volcanic Puritama River flows along the middle of a canyon, forming the Puritama hot spring pools.
Termas de Puritama consists of 8 outdoor pools along the hot river and some cascading small waterfalls. All pools are connected by wooden footpaths.
From San Pedro de Atacama it takes about half an hour on a partially paved and partial dirt road to get to the thermal pools. You can also book a transport to Termas de Puritama online.

If you are looking for an off-the-beaten-path adventure into the Chilean Andes, Termas Valle de Colina hot springs are for you!
Like many other natural hot springs we discover, the Andes hot springs Termas Valle de Colina is truly off the beaten path. Nestled deep into the Andean canyon Cajón del Maipo, you will find natural milky blue thermal pools overlooking the surrounding mountains.
You can get there by car (off-road) or with a tour from Santiago.

3 | Termas Geometricas Hot Springs In Villarica National Park
Nestled in the mountainous area of Villarrica National Park in the South of Chile you will find the lushest and most unique hot springs in Chile – Termas Geométricas.
Walking along the red-painted boardwalks in the canyon of Termas Geometricas with lush green vegetation and steaming hot volcanic water will leave you truly amazed.
From Pucón takes about 2 hrs by car to get to the natural hot springs. The last part is a bumpy ride up the mountain.
There are also tours leaving from Pucón that you can book online. Whichever option you chose, a visit to Termas Geométricas is definitely a must-see when in the Pucon or Villarica area.

4 | Salto El Leon Hot Tubs
Not exactly a natural hot spring near Pucón but nevertheless a hot water experience that is absolutely worth mentioning and that should be on our list of Chile’s best hot springs – Tinajas Salto El Leon.
Salto Leon, actually meaning Leon waterfall, is a beautiful and forceful waterfall that you can admire right from your private wooden hot tub while sipping on a cocktail.
Nestled in a forest about a 40 minute drive from Pucón, the 95 meter high waterfall is surrounded by lush greenery.
Hot Tubs With A View
The hot tubs are located near the waterfall with an amazing view of Salto El Leon.
Half of the drive from Pucón to the Salto Leon hot tubs will be on a dirt road.
The Salto El Leon hot tubs are very popular, so you have to make a reservation to secure a private hot tub.
A hot tub fits a maximum of 6 people.
Salto El Leon is not a natural Chile hot springs but it comes pretty close and the fact that it’s right by the waterfall makes this a very unique place to visit near Pucón, Chile.

Termas del Sol located in Puelo is a natural hot spring in Patagonia in the South of Chile.
At Termas del Sol, which is one of the top Chilean hot springs, you will find 10 hot springs pools nicely spread out over a 300 meter stretch.
The water temperatures vary from 36 C to 45 C. All come from a natural hot spring source.
There is also a „cold“ pool which is about 22 C warm for the ones looking to cool off a bit.

Termas del Sol is a very popular hot spring in Patagonia, Chile. For good reason.
The hot spring grounds are designed very beautifully and stylishly. There are many amenities like cold showers to cool off, sun chairs, spotlessly clean toilets, and changing rooms as well as a cafe with a nice seating area that serves delicious sandwiches, pizza, and pastries.
If you are looking to visit Termas del Sol be sure to secure your ticket online.
We had a great time at Termas del Sol and can only recommend visiting those cool Chile hot springs when you are in the Puerto Varas or Puerto Montt area.

Parque de Aguas Termal are mountain top hot springs in Chile. They are located at the Chillan Ski Resort right next to Hotel Alto Nevados and the ski lifts.
The hot springs at Parque de Aguas Termal are perfect for taking a soothing warm bath after a long and cold day of skiing.
The cool thing about these hot springs in Chillan is that there is a bar right in one of the hot springs pools so you can do your Après Ski from right there.
