You will find 20 thermal pools in a canyon along a naturally hot river, ranging from about 37 degrees celsius to over 42 degrees C.

The further you walk along the 500-meter-long famous red walkway the hotter the pools will get. At the end of the lush green canyon, you will be rewarded with a gorgeous waterfall.

Walking along the red-painted boardwalks through the canyon with lush green vegetation and steaming hot volcanic water will leave you truly amazed! We felt like in a magical world.

During the wintertime when there is snow at Termas Geométricas and the outside temperatures are cold it gets even more magical.

Soaking in the hot springs can leave you hungry and thirsty. Besides the thermal pools, Termas Geométricas has a cute little cafeteria that offers delicious homemade snacks and drinks.

Since there is a cafeteria, outside food and alcoholic beverages are not allowed.

How To Get To Termas Geometricas?

From Coñaripe To Termas Geométricas

The nearest town to the thermal pools is Coñaripe, which is 19 km / 12 miles and a little over half an hour’s drive from the hot springs. Most tourists stay around the Pucon area, however.

From Pucon To Termas Geométricas

If you are visiting Termas Geométricas from Pucón it will take about 2 hrs by car to get to the hot springs. The drive is 87 kilometers / 54 miles.

The last part of the journey is going up a windy unpaved mountain road. You are literally driving into the middle of nowhere, but this is what makes it so great and adventurous. Any good car should be able to do it, but it is easiest with a 4×4.

In the winter this area of Villarrica National Park gets snow, make sure to check the road conditions before you start the journey.

If you don’t have a proper car or mind the windy mountain roads and long drive, there are tours that bring you there.

The Geometricas hot springs are open from Monday to Friday. On the weekends the thermal pools are closed.

The opening hours are from 9 am in the morning until 9 pm in the evening.

With the long opening hours, you will have the option to experience Termas Geometricas at night as well, which is quite magical.

What To Wear To Hot Springs In Chile?

Contrary to many remote hot springs in the US, taking a dip au natural at Chile’s natural hot springs is not a thing. In fact, we have never seen any people without their bathing suits. So make sure to bring it!

What To Bring To The Hot Springs?

You can’t bring food to the natural pools, but water is allowed and a good idea to bring. Flip flops or water shoes are also recommended, but not absolutely necessary. The paths are pretty good.

Since the thermal pools are located in a narrow canyon, there is not a lot of direct harsh sunlight, so sunscreen is not really necessary. Bringing a quick-dry towel and a water bag is always useful and good to pack your wet bathing suits afterward.

There are actually quite a few hot springs in Pucón and around the Villarrica National Park as well as the nearby Los Ríos region. They are worth checking out as well but be warned, none are as amazing as the Baños Geometricas. They are just the absolute best hot springs in Pucon and Chile. To be fair, it’s almost impossible to beat such amazing hot springs. We can only think of two hot springs in Costa Rica, that come close to Termas Geometricas in Coñaripe.

Where To Stay Near Termas Geometricas

Major and best places to stay near the Geometricas hot springs are Coñaripe at Lago Calafquen and Villarrica or Pucón at Lago Villarrica.

Pucón is by far the most popular place to stay amongst international travelers. The little picturesque town reminds us of Alpine villages around Germany, Switzerland, or Austria. We loved staying in Pucón. If you wouldn’t know better, you’d think you are in Europe, it’s crazy!

There are plenty of hotels and vacation rentals in town as well as around Villarrica Lake.

Other Incredible Thermal Springs In Chile

Two other amazing hot springs in Chile that you must visit when in the country are Termas de Puritama and Termas Colina.

Termas de Puritama is located in the North of Chile and is an absolute oasis in the midst of the dry Atacama desert.

Termas Valle de Colina is located in Cajón de Maipo in the Andes mountains and is a popular day trip from the nearby capital Santiago.
