The Saguaro Palm Springs and its sister hotel, the Saguaro Scottsdale, used to be owned by the Joire de Vivre Hotel Group.

A few years ago Sydell Group took over, and both hotels, especially the rooms, got a more sleek makeover.

After the takeover, the original Mexican and desert-inspired style changed to a less colorful style now, but not much more than that has actually visibly changed.

The hotel is still the most colorful hotel in Palm Springs.

The El Jefe Restaurant also has a nice outdoor patio, which we enjoyed very much.

El Jefe Cantina has not only Taco Tuesday but also Taco Thursday.

We loved the tacos there. They were absolutely delicious. Our favorite were the fish tacos.

Also the margaritas, they were on point!

Happy Hour

Last but not least, the best things about the most colorful hotel in Palm Springs is, that El Jefe restaurant has a daily happy hour.

As mentioned, we loved the margaritas and took advantage of the cheaper happy hour prices. 🙂

Our Saguaro Palm Springs Review

Rainbow Colors Everywhere!

The Saguaro is without a doubt is the most colorful hotel in Palm Springs. We like the hotel and especially the El Jefe restaurant and outdoor pool area.

The rainbow colored Palm Springs boutique hotel is great for a short California desert getaway.

However, there some cons too and they weight more or less heavy depending on what you are looking for.

Steep Resort Fee

The hotel is not cheap. Even if you get a cheap rate during off season, let’s say for 99 USD, there will be a lot of fees on top of it. Especially the resort fee is a lot with 42 USD per day. In the end, you end up paying around 160 USD.

Not A Luxury Hotel

It’s an old hotel with a good paint job. You can tell that The Saguaro used to be an old hotel that got renovated. Which is fine, but it still has that older style. Especially the hallways, elevators, etc.

We also feel like after the takeover of the Sydell Hotel Group, that the rooms got pretty plain and simple. They are pretty basic in our opinion.

Therefore, if you are looking for a luxury stay, this Palm Springs boutique hotel will not be for you.

Not A Romantic Hotel

We also don’t feel like The Saguaro is a romantic hotel. There are way better romantic hotels in Palm Springs. Thinking of Sparrows Lodge or Korakia Pensione or the Avalon Hotel Palm Springs to only name a few.

THE Party Hotel In Palm Springs

On the other hand, due to its hip and cool style and its colorful design, the Saguaro is a great party hotel, especially on the weekends.

The colorful Saguaro is great for a bachelorette weekend for instance.

During the week, however, and especially during off season, the colorful Saguaro Hotel is actually pretty quite. Which can be nice too. We actually prefer that, unless we come for the party.
